The self-titled debut album by Denver band The Lumineers landed at #43 on the Billboard Top 200 chart this week, selling over 10,000 copies. The album was released last week on Dualtone, and ended up peaking at #8 on iTunes top selling albums charts for the week, propelling it to #15 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart. The album also charted high on the Billboard Independent chart, landing at #3.
The band's style of emotive, powerful songs has garnered comparisons to Arcade Fire, Edward Sharpe, and Mumford and Sons. The album was produced and mixed by Ryan Hadlock (Foo Fighters, Ra Ra Riot, Metric) at Bear Creek Studios, with additional mixing by Kevin Augunas (The Black Keys, Cold War Kids, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros) at Fairfax Recordings. Positive reviews have been coming in, with Rolling Stone noting "The debut from this Colorado crew argues that a bunch of Americans can lead slowly-accelerating lovelorn singalongs just as well as UK yankophile Marcus Mumford." Similarly,Paste said "there's an instant connection here similar to that sonic euphoria many people found upon hearing their first roaring Mumford song, favorite Dylan lyric or perfect Head and The Heart harmony."

The band also had their first national network television appearance last week, performing on CBS' The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Check out the performance at the link below:
The band's first single "Ho Hey" is currently making a big leap up both the Triple A and Alternative radio charts with airplay happening across the country in key markets including: KEXP & KNDD (Seattle), KBCO & KTCL (Denver), WXRT (Chicago), KCMP & KTCZ (Minneapolis), WXPN (Philadelphia), KINK (Portland), WEQX (Albany), WXRV (Boston), WLUM & WYMS (Milwaukee), WTTS (Indianapolis), KPRI (San Diego), WWCD (Columbus) and many more.
The band have also just announced a handful of dates throughout May and June, where they will play choice cities in the south as well as a number of shows in Texas. The band are currently in the middle of their US tour, following recent sold out shows in Seattle, Portland, two nights in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz. Many of the tour's remaining dates have already sold out, including Minneapolis, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Denver, Washington DC, and Brooklyn. The band even had to upgrade their Seattle show to a larger venue due to demand, and still ended up selling out the extra tickets in a matter of hours. Due to such high demand, the band has also just added an extra date in Denver. For a full list of remaining tour dates, please see below.

The Lumineers were formed by Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites in New York. Their story begins in 2002, the year Jeremiah's brother and Wesley's long-time best friend, Josh, died from a drug overdose at 19. Amidst the loss and grief, Wes and Jeremiah came together and found solace in music, writing songs and playing gigs around New York. After battling the city's cutthroat music scene and impossibly high cost of living, the two decided to expand their horizons. They packed everything they owned and headed for Denver, Colorado, where they met cellist Neyla Pakarek. And so The Lumineers sound took shape; an amalgam of heart-swelling stomp-and-clap acoustic rock, classic pop, and front-porch folk.
