Daniel Kohn

Daniel Kohn

Ever since he first heard the opening chords to "Smells Like Teen Spirit," at the age of 11, Daniel Kohn has been hooked on music. Born in New York City, raised in the music hotbed of Long Island and currently residing in Los Angeles, Kohn has been writing since high school, when he realized he could get CDs for free. He's a sucker for '90s music, especially that from Seattle. Like a small minority of Americans, he likes football of the European variety, especially Liverpool. When he's not chasing down bands, you can find him at your local pub with a pint of Carlsberg, usually at ungodly hours cheering on his beloved Reds.

Somehow, Grant Park seemed more packed than before, which made for an incredible festival vibe. Enough of the blabber and onto the music. Bouncing around the stages early on, the 3 p.m. hour gave us a glimpse of a ris...

Day two got off to an auspicious start, pretty much picking up where day one left off. With perhaps the most complete lineup of the three days, Saturday proved to be an adventure in both stamina and sound. Somehow, the early afternoon weather was hotter and more humid than Friday, which may sound impossible, yet it became the story of the story. En...

Hot. Humid. Not A cloud in the sky. Great music. If you guessed that the city and site described was Lollapalooza in Chicago then you’re the big winner. On an idyllic day in the Windy City, some of the best new bands in music descended to Grant Park (the site of the Buckingham Fountain made famous in the opening to Married In Children) and performe...

Though this is her third album, Jesca Hoop is still a relative unknown to many music listeners. What is known, and should who aren’t familiar should know, is that Hoop has hobnobbed with some of the biggest names in the biz. She’s cut her teeth by working with the iconic Tom Waits (for whose kids she was the nanny for), Peter Gabriel (who sang ba...
