Covered in a purple sequin and fringe dress, that she made sure to shake at every opportunity, Sharon Jones she sprang to life as she took the stage. This woman is not to be missed. Her energy and talent are captivating.

A late starter, she didn't enter the music industry till her forties. She certainly has made up for lost time. The highlight of her set was her performance of a song she was given as a gift for her fiftieth birthday. As she introduced it, she told the crowd about many personal struggles she had recently gone through, things ranging from her mother's passing, to a tooth surgery leaving her tongue partly numb, to the jet lag she was having from playing shows all over the place. The under lying message was about strength and courage. It blew me away.
If you ever have an opprtiunity to see Sharon Jones And The Dap Kings, take it.

I’m a proud Chicagoan as most of us are and music has been a necessity in my life for as long as I can remember. Majority of the time I can be found at a show, listening to blaring music (as my roommate stated best “music was not written quietly, the louder the better”), or lugging band equipment for the band my friends play in.  I am a sucker for lyrics and have been known to adapt many of my favorites into motto's on how I should live my life. I am also a concert photographer that has had the privilege of shooting many awesome bands and loving every minute of it.
