This week we’re giving Australia and it’s abundance of summer (yes, it's summer down there right now) festivals a rest, and highlighting a San Francisco one we’re excited about: Noise Pop. Running from February 21 – 26, Noise Pop combines indie music, local arts, an interactive workshop exploring DIY culture, gallery shows, and happy hours. Plus, this year is its 20th Anniversary, and they’ve got a great lineup; i.e., a gold mine of new music and  new bands. For example:

Born Gold

Sister Crayon

Wye Oak

Veronica Falls

Talkdemonic

Surfer Blood

And Bay Area natives Fresh & Onlys:

Plus seasoned favorites like Archers of Loaf, Built to Spill, and Cursive.

A general badge for all shows across 16 venues will run you $150, although for some reason this excludes Die Antwoord’s show at the Regency. The complete schedule grid can be found here, where you can also plan out your own schedule of events to check out. Of course there’s good ol’ Facebook to keep track of updates, as well as Twitter for those timely announcements.

Sometimes people ask me, “Do you ever get tired of going to shows?” To which I respond, “Never!” Too much is never enough for me when it comes to music, so it’s a good thing I live in the land of everyone-is-a-musician: NYC. I’m usually out and about around the DIY venues of Brooklyn, but you can find me in the city too. In my free time I’m coming up with new designs to add to my small jewelry collection on Etsy, which is inspired by my favorite songs. Feel free to say hey if you’re at the same show, and also feel free to email me with any awesome show tips in the area.
