Loyal and obsessive Arcade Fire fans will have a reason to rejoice come August 3rd, when the indie heavyweights will release their first full-length album since 2007′s critically-adored Neon Bible. The new album is called The Suburbs, and it is a mighty 16 songs long. Judging from the album’s first two singles, “The Suburbs” and “Month of May,” it sounds like this album will be just as powerful and awe-inspiring as any other Arcade Fire creation. We will have to wait to hear all 16 tracks before we pass any real judgment, but my hopes are high.

In other exciting news, the LP of The Suburbs will feature eight, yes eight, different album covers. The band will also grace Jon Stewart’s stage on The Daily Show when they perform August 12. It’s kind of a big deal, so set your DVRs, people. There’s also a pretty adorable hand-written letter to fans posted on the band’s official website.

While no official “The Suburbs” tour has been announced, Arcade Fire will be playing a few shows in the U.S. in early August. Check out dates here.
