Reading and Leeds festivals had about a trillion and one amazing musical acts to satisfy anyone and everyone’s musical appetites- but hands down my favorite live performance (and let me tell you- it was a tough decision!) was Frank Turner who’s act sparked an enormous crowd wide sing a long to almost everyone of his beautiful tunes.

It was only a few years ago that Turner was playing Reading on a much smaller stage and scale- but his main stage performance this year was absolutely deserved and his songs had people unable to sit still as everyone joined in an all out rock-a-thon and let me tell you- it takes a lot to make people brave dancing in a mud infested field (especially when considering the outcome could easily take a turn for the worst and suddenly you’re in an unsolicited mud bath).

But this crowd wasn’t slowing down for anything when Turner took the stage and his key tracks “Long Live The Queen” and “Reasons Not To Be An Idiot” (currently on my playlist right now- I may or may not be he newest addition to the Turner groupie train) had everyone belting out lyrics that could only be louder if we were all doing drinks and karaoke.

Lucky for all you L.A. kids Turner will be making an appearance at the El Rey on Thursday, October 13 and this L.A. trip is long overdue.  Those of you hooked on the sweet sounds care of Turner tunage should invest in a ticket ASAP- this show WILL sell out, and you don’t want to be living vicariously through other people’s tweets- believe me.  Added bonus- we don’t have to worry about dancing in mud here in L.A.- leave your wellies at the door.  In fact, I’ve retired mine until next summer.  See you there for a much needed night of heartfelt music and what is sure to be an L.A. wide sing a long- start your vocal warm ups now!  To keep updated on the latest and greatest with Frank Turner head HERE!
