Deerhunter – Revival

This jangly rock song from Deerhunter is just a peek at their well-crafted new release, Halcyon Digest, out today on 4AD. Their distorted sound is accompanied by spry guitar, Bradford Cox’s reluctant-rocker crows, and a solid beat, making for a catchy and addictive track that doesn’t stray too far from the band’s roots.

Junip – Always

Swedish mellow-folk master has revived his band Junip for this month’s Fields. The band sounds much like Gonzalez’s enchanting solo work, but with a fuller sound and some playful energy. “Always” uses Gonzalez’s signature acoustic guitar sound, but adds in other instrumentals and a bright chorus for a bigger sound and more upbeat vibe.

The Walkmen – Angela Surf City

The Walkmen bring all of their distraught rock ‘n’ roll swagger to this boisterous track from their new album, Lisbon. Dramatic and charismatic leader Hamilton Leithauser sings with equal parts raw dejection and careless attitude, and the band keeps up. This is one to scream along to with all your inner rocker, don’t be shy.
