Tom Crosthwaite

Like everyone else, Tom started playing rock n’ roll in high school. He was lucky enough to have his garage band signed to a small record deal and it was all downhill from there.

The Jezabels New video: ‘CITY GIRL’

Jezabels425

Now armed with a UK press rap sheet longer than your arm and an attitude that defies convention, Australian four-piece and winners of the 2012 Australian Music Prize The Jezabels have not only conquered their home land but 2012 sees them casting their own brand of highly charged rock, like a malevolent storm, across the oceans and into the UK.

In just 3 short months the band have played to 2300 people at their two sold-out London headline shows and on the day their critically acclaimed album Prisoner was released in the UK, they announced their biggest London headline show to date, at the 1500 capacity Brixton Electric on Thursday 17th May 2012

Following up from the album release (which went straight into the Aussie charts at no.2) The Jezabels will be releasing album track CITY GIRL on Monday 14TH MAY. From the opening bars CITY GIRL bears all the hallmarks of The Jezabels’ sound: it’s a widescreen epic with guitarist Sam Lockwood’s expansive FM radio riffery, coupled with drummer Nik Kaloper’s thundering drums and Heather Shannon’s chiming layered keys all poised behind singer Hayley Mary’s now distinctive and remarkable vocals.

Catch The Jezabels live in the UK during May,

Thursday 17th May London Brixton Electric
Friday 18th May Liverpool Zanzibar
Saturday 19th May Dublin Button Factory

more UK shows and festival dates to be announced.

USA Today gave Neck of the Woods three out of four stars calling the album "sharp," and noting its "shades of electronica" and "muscular riffs," while Paste heralded the band's third studio record as "the best mainstream rock album of the year." The Los Angeles Times likewise praised Neck of the Woods, awarding it three out of four stars, noting "its allusions all nod to the best stuff from a time when rock acts could be experimental, heavy and platinum-selling at once." People gave the album four out of four stars, remarking "Silversun's latest sparkles."

FlightFacilities560

Following their first two singles, "Crave You" and "Foreign Language," Flight Facilities have a lot to live up to.  But the DJ and production duo met the challenge and is sure to surpass all expectations.  "With You" featuring Grovesnor, Flight Facilities' brand new single, is already making international waves by finding its way into DJ sets across several continents.

Today, Flight Facilities release the "With You" EP via Future Classic that includes the original, an extended mix, and several remixes.  Germany's David August, the 20 year old wiz kid on cult Hamburg label Diynamic, enters with a pitch shifted druggy flip on the original. Danny Daze is the man behind the huge Hot Creation anthem "Your Everything" and has found the Todd Edwards within for his 5AM mix, while UK duo MAM (Matt Hughes and Miguel Campbell) bring it back with a chunky bass and Rhodes summer anthem.
And we haven't even started to talk about the music video yet!  If jaws dropped with Flight Facilities' previous music videos, we don't even know what the music video for "With You" will do.  It's a fully animated short film that tells a story about love, loss....and ROBOTS. You'll have to watch the video to understand how cool it is and we recommend you do just that.  We'll be there afterwords nodding and with an understanding smile.

CBGB2560

From BILLBOARD: Although CBGB officially closed its famed New York location in 2006, the shuttered club -- founded by Hilly Kristal in 1973 -- has lived on through CBGB fashions and radio. Now, the first ever CBGB festival will take place July 5-8 at venues across the city.

The New York Times reports that the festival will be modeled after SXSW and CMJ, with film screenings, workshops and conferences, in addition to concerts with more than 300 bands at 30 locations.

A new group of investors, which recently purchased the CBGB assets to launch this festival, also has plans to reopen the club at a new downtown location.

"We're never going to recreate that moment in time," investor Tim Hayes told the New York Times. "We're trying to continue the idea of supporting live music, making a lot of noise and being a part of New York City. The festival is one way we can do it. Eventually the club will be another way we can do it."

Bands scheduled to perform at the CBGB Festival include the Cro-Mags, Vision of Disorder, Sick of It All, Guided by Voices, the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Cloud Nothings, former New York Doll David Johansen, and the Baseball Project, a group formed by R.E.M.'s Peter Buck and Dream Syndicate's Steve Wynn.

Ticket options are now on sale on the CBGB website, with combinations ranging from $69 for the music showcases to $299 for everything. Prices will be as high as $499 day-of-show.

"The sound is at once instantly inviting-plenty of earworm-worthy angular guitars and seductive synthesizers-and surprisingly deep, with Dalager's wounded alto the perfect conduit for the band's tales of fragile relationships in flux." - The Onion
