It’s not often that I skulk around comic book stores anxiously waiting for them to open, but I was there at the crack of dawn to try and get my hands on the extremely graphic little novel Wire Hangers penned by Alan Robert bassist of Life of Agony. Literally the comic clerk must have thought I was either A) lost, or B) out of my damn mind- but those misconceptions aside and I had him anxiously searching the racks to help me find the book I’d come for. Ten minutes later and I’m on the road, Wire Hangers in hand and cruising full speed ahead towards downtown where the who’s who of the metal realm were gathering for that evening’s Revolver Golden Gods Awards.
Amidst the black carpet insanity I got to chat with Alan Robert about his upcoming release Crawl To Me, upcoming festival season, and his graphic novel going big screen!
I wouldn’t normally suspect a metal musician to be into comics- but never judge a book by its cover (except for Wire Hangers which is turning out to be just as twisted as it’s cover art- I’m halfway through!)

Life of Agony is confirmed for three shows this fest season Kantine, Dour Festival, and Zwarte Cross Festival- and that’s only the beginning! I’m anxious to see LOA up close and personal- the fact that they played in front of half a million people blows my mind, but down to earth Alan Robert didn’t seem phased by the fame at all! Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on Life of Agony to see where and when you catch them next (HERE) and be sure to scope our Wire Hangers while it’s still in production, and when your through with that add Crawl To Me to your summer reading list- who said summer assignments couldn’t be fun?
