We generally premiere MP3s and music videos on BestNewBands.com, but today we are ecstatic to present you loyal readers with an exclusive full stream of The Hectors’ debut full-length, Her Dark Majesty.
With a split 7” single and 5-song EP already under their belts, the Los Angeles-based indie rockers have built up a good deal of anticipation for the release of their freshman effort, and today the album drops via Tarantism.
The most endearing aspect of The Hectors is their “back-to-basics” sound. They shed the bells and whistles that drag down a lot of underground music today and showcase their strengths in a standard rock ‘n’ roll arrangement: guitar, vocals, bass and drums. The band’s simple and proficient instrumentation paired with singer Corinne Dinner’s soft, nonchalant delivery has garnered comparisons ranging from Pavement to Fugazi, and with Jeff Lipton (Arcade Fire, Bon Iver) manning the mastering helm, it’s astonishing that this is a debut.
