Pony Village Premieres Whimsical Acoustic Single, “Wildwood Drive”

Up in the Pacific Northwest, clouds and rain make up the majority of the weather, and though it can be dreary, it can also make for some inspired songwriting. That mood and feeling the rain produces in some is an excellent tool, not to mention the excuse to stay inside the studio and write/record while hiding from Mother Nature.

Portland’s Pony Village personifies this sentiment in their songs. The acoustic guitar driven tracks and lackadaisical arrangements are reminiscent of sitting by the fire on a cold winter day, while singer/guitarist Ryan Barber’s soft Ben Gibbard-esque croons assure you that everything’s going to be okay. Today, we are excited to premiere “Wildwood Drive,” the latest single by the quintet.

This track is special because it was recorded over a year ago and finally seeing the light of day. Packaged with two additional songs, the “Wildwood Drive” 7” was recorded at Old Standard Sound, a studio run in Barber’s Portland home, and fellow Oregon-based musician Tucker Jackson (Celilo, Sean Flinn and the Royal We) lent his talents with an outstanding pedal steel guitar part in the single.

Pony Village is gearing up to head to Boise for the Treefort Music Fest in March. Get more info here and check out the “Wildwood Drive” 7” on Bandcamp.
