Oh, beautiful Santa Cruz. Its surf-worthy waves, fun festivities at the boardwalk and eclectic downtown shops have granted this city one of the best in California. And now, for those of you (like myself and fellow BNB writer Liz Livengood) who are fans, you have another reason to back that statement. The Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium’s stage will be hosting Passion Pit tomorrow, Friday, December 3rd.
Passion Pit mixes high pitched vocals, synth electronica and pop beats to make their very distinct sound. Their light and at times whimsical sound is like flowers blooming inside your ears. Beats that make you want to dance and lyrics that make you want to sing along are what have kept this band around longer than just one hit wonder status.
Passion Pit has released two albums since their formation in 2007. Songs off of Chunk of Change and the more recent Manners have catapulted Passion Pit into success. A PSP commercial from a couple years ago featured “Sleepyhead” and since then other companies and TV shows have jumped on the Passion Pit bandwagon for advertisement and commercial themes. Palm Pixi, Little Big Planet 2 and HBO’s Big Love are only a few featuring the band’s music as soundtracks.
The auditorium’s 2021 seat capacity will surely be mostly filled once 8 o’clock rolls around on Friday. For $30, you can be in one of those seats. Tickets can be purchased here. So spend a day at the beach and end with some Passion Pit!
