Berlin – One of the latest musical offerings to come from Ampispazi Recordings – and their first of 2015 – is Mess Me with a new release to satiate the sonic demands of his followers. “Keep On Coming” is his first track through the label and it is a dark, bold and ambitious start to a collaboration that could be a sign of things to come for the producer and the Berlin-based label.
This latest release from the Swiss-born Mess Me (nee Luca Mescoli), is a foray into many of the musical genres he has experimented with over the years. His previous work in punk bands to his most recent ventures in the world of electronica have led him to this point in his career; his connection to Ampispazi proves a perfect fit for the dalliances he has had thus far as a composer.
Ampispazi Recordings has been issuing prodigious EDM for the last four years, known for celebrating tech house that strikes the right balance on the dance floor. When it comes to collaborating with artists that elicit moods through their music, Mik Santoro, Ampispazi’s owner, knows his way around a beat and this initial release from Mess Me is in line with their signature sounds. “Keep On Coming” is wholly representative of the music Mess Me has earned a following from since previous releases on Kinesen and EGO Italy. He has cultivated a following in his native Italy playing indie dance music, techno, and nu disco that feature lush melodies, analog drum machines, and guitar riffs that remain with you well after the track is over. Now that he has paid his dues and won over fans in Italy, he is threatening to expand his name and sound well throughout Europe and across the Atlantic. With his latest release, we find Mess Me again in his element, and the track begins with an enticing percussion groove that builds and gives way to a wave of piano notes, a pulsating rhythm, and smooth vocals that are sure to send listeners to the dance floor. “Keep On Coming” is definitely a track that deep house fans will clamor to, with the B-side, “Selector,” the icing on the cake.
For those that prefer a bit more bass in their tracks, “Selector” provides enough bpm’s to carry any and all to the dance floor and take you well through the final hours of the night. This is trance done right, full of enough ambiance to satisfy the EDM faithful. For those that have never had the pleasure of an after hours night out in Berlin’s fabled Berghain, this track all but takes them there, re-creating the ambiance and atmosphere that the club has become synonymous for.
If this EP is any indication of what Ampispazi Recordings has in store for listeners in 2015, anticipation will undoubtedly brew to a feverish pitch as they churn out new music and artists later this year.
