Los Angeles - Lower Dens, the indie rock quartet based out of Baltimore, MD, just released a second track titled, “Ondine,” from their upcoming third record, Escape from Evil. The album is due for U.S. street release on March 31 (March 30 in the rest of the world) via Ribbon Music.
Lower Dens are Jana Hunter (lead vocals, guitar), Walker Teret (guitar), Geoff Graham (bass, vocals), Nate Nelson (drums)
This new song is the follow up from the record’s first single, “To Die in L.A.” The track is one of sonically comfortable and rich quality, effortlessly displaying Hunter’s ability to study and transform ubiquitous themes and experiences –things like fear, guilt and love, among others – and hear them manifested through artistically powerful compositions. “Ondine” highlights the production prowess of Ariel Rechtshaid (Vampire Weekend, Haim, Cass McCombs), who is just one of a handful of individuals who contributed to the album.
Lower Dens have also released information regarding some North American tour dates, including stops at NXNE in Toronto and the Northside Festival in Brooklyn. The full list of tour dates are provided below. More North American and international dates are projected for announcement soon.
Alongside Hunter, Escape from Evil was mixed and co-produced by Chris Coady (Cass McCombs, Beach House). Additional elements were even contributed by Lower Dens’ own Walker Teret. John Congleton, who has worked with St. Vincent and The Walkmen as lent a hand in recording and production.
Escape From Evil is a striking and significant note of progress for Lower Dens, following their 2010 debut, Twin-Hand Movement and 2012 sophomore effort, Nootropics. This third installament embodies a warm and crisp character and showcases the evolution of Hunter as a singer that listeners have not witnessed until this project.

Escape from Evil will be released on CD and digitally. A limited-edition deep purple vinyl edition is also available for pre-order, exclusively through Ribbon Music. All pre-orders through Ribbon Music and iTunes get access to an instant download of both “To Die in L.A.” and “Ondine.”
