Wild Nothing Begins North American Tour Tomorrow

Wild Nothing by Shawn Brackbill - Best New Bands

Los Angeles - This past February, Wild Nothing – a.k.a L.A. based indie musician Jake Tatum – released Life of Pause, his third studio album and much anticipated follow up to 2012’s Nocturne, via Captured Tracks (US) / Bella Union (UK). Tomorrow Wild Nothing embarks on a North American tour, that includes support from Whitney and label-mate Charlie Hilton, in support of Life of Pause.

On the road, Tatum is joined by four additional musicians. Currently Nathan Goodman (guitar), Jeff Haley (bass), Kevin Knight (keyboards), and Jeremiah Johnson (drums) make up the live version of Wild Nothing. The dream pop band was formed in 2009, by Tatum, in Blacksburg, Virginia. In 2010, Wild Nothing released the debut LP Gemini through Captured Tracks. The album was praised by critics and found its way onto many “Best Of” lists that year. Two years later, Wild Nothing followed up with sophomore LP Nocturne, which was also well-received by critics. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard ”New Artist” and “Alternative New Artist” charts. This year’s Life of Pause - which features the singles ”To Know You” and “TV Queen” - has been called Wild Nothing’s best album to date, by many. When Jake Tatum set out to make Life of Pause, his goal was to not just write an album, but to “create another world,” filled with textures and details fit for exploring by any listener. To quote Tatum: “I desperately wanted for this to be the kind of record that would displace me.” He further asserted, “I’m terrified by the idea of being any one thing, or being of any one genre. And whether or not I accomplish that, I know that my only hope of getting there is to constantly reinvent. That reinvention doesn’t need to be drastic, but every new record has to have its own identity, and it has to have a separate set of goals from what came before.”

You can witness Tatum reinvent himself on tour, this spring and summer, throughout North America and Europe, where Wild Nothing will invite you inside a magical world of dream-pop. A full list of tour dates can be found below.
