Blitzen Trapper Release Mystery And Wonder EP

Blitzen Trapper by Jason Quigley - Best New Bands

Los Angeles – Just this past October, Blitzen Trapper released the studio album, All Across This Land to much critical acclaim with Entertainment Weekly hailing it  “bigger, synthier, warmer,” and Uncut Magazine claiming it was “an infectious country rocker that deserves to be an enormous hit.”  Following in the album’s footsteps, the band just released a three track EP for second single “Mystery and Wonder” that also includes a live version of “Let The Cards Fall” recorded on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic and a very special cover of “I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow.”

Recorded specifically for end credit use in the critically acclaimed second season of FX’s Fargo, frontman Eric Earley notes, “Got asked to do a version of Man of Constant Sorrow like it was the theme to a 70′s cop show.  No problem, just tried to channel my inner Rockford Files…” Check it out here:

In celebration of the EP’s release, Blitzen Trapper is excited to share the official music video for the title track “Mystery and Wonder” which Clash called “stirring, gently anthemic but with an undercurrent of melancholy.” See for yourself here:

More on Blitzen Trapper:

Blitzen Trapper has crafted one of the more compelling and varied catalogs in contemporary rock and roll. Indeed, singer and guitarist Eric Earley, who is also the Portland, Oregon-based band’s primary songwriter, is possessed of a musical and lyrical sensibility that is remarkably deep and wide; big ideas and universal emotions are wrung from the seemingly plainspoken details of small-screen and often highly personal stories, and set to music that reaches way, way back to old-timey folk and bluegrass, travels through everything from country, psychedelia and soul to prog, garage and metal, indulges gloriously in the classic rock of the 70s and 80s, and makes occasional side trips into hip-hop, skewed pop and noisey freakouts.
