New York - George Ezra, the fast rising indie artist from London, who got everyone talking with the single, “Budapest,” is not letting any momentum pass him by! (Existing fans of Ezra will remember Best New Bands contributor, Sean Kayden, reviewing Ezra’s performance in Los Angeles last month, as well as our feature on Ezra from earlier in the year.)
The UK artist just announced an additional eight dates that will be part of his to his summer headlining tour! The multi-month stretch of shows will kick off starting on March 30, 2015 with a sold out show in Chicago, IL.
The newly announced summer shows begin on July 27, on the east coast, at the famed 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. and the tour will wrap up across the country in Seattle, WA on August 11. Throughout the summer, Ezra will be hitting plenty of other states and notable venues, including stops at New York City’s Terminal 5 on July 28, the House Of Blues in Boston on July 29, Denver, CO’s Ogden Theatre on August 4 and by then, it will be just about time for Outside Lands in San Francisco on August 7.
The complete list of dates is shown below.
Prior to all of this national travel for the tour, those already eager to see and share their excitement over Ezra’s music can gather friends together this Saturday, March 28, and watch Ezra when he makes his debut appearance as the musical guest on the revered stage of Saturday Night Live.
Following his stint on SNL, Ezra also announced he will be playing at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Festival-goers can look forward to his sets on Friday, April 10 and Friday, April 17.
This news of extra performances being added to Ezra’s tour is not entirely surprising, given the ongoing and overwhelmingly positive response to his debut, full-length album, Wanted On Voyage. The record itself has been very well received and things for Ezra were only bolstered further with his live performances during recent tours with cohorts Hozier and Sam Smith –the tickets for which which were quickly sold out.
As yet another demonstration of just how much Ezra’s music has flown beyond the UK and really made an impact with all kinds of fans, check out this the video of the Glee Club from Brooklyn, NY’s P.S. 8 below! This group of New York City students were so inspired, they decided to share their interpretation “Budapest” for the world to hear!
Wanted on Voyage was released in the U.S. on January 27, 2015 via Columbia Records.
