Richmond – Minnesota band Tiny Moving Parts is having a good day. The trio premiered the new music video for “Headache” via NPR, who called the track “a wide-swinging pop-punk song with some wily finger-tapping.” Tiny Moving Parts also announced it will release a brand new LP through Triple Crown Records, titled Celebrate, on May 20, 2016, and revealed the album art work and track listing. As if that wasn’t enough, the band also announced a summer headlining tour, with support from Prawn and Free Throw, throughout May and June. The tour will kick off in Fargo, North Dakota at The Aquarium and end at the Firebird, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Tiny Moving Parts is a three-piece family band, made up of brothers Matthew and William Chevalier and their cousin Dylan Mattheisen. The three grew up in the small town of Benson, Minnesota, where they developed a love for music, playing shows in basements and garages. Upon graduating, the trio released their debut EP Moving To Antarctica, followed by their first full-length This Couch is Long & Full of Friendship (Kind of Like Records). Shortly thereafter, Tiny Moving Parts signed with Triple Crown Records and released the LP Pleasant Living, via Triple Crown. The band has become known for creating fun yet smart mathy, post hardcore-pop punk. Back in 2014, Best New Bands caught up with Tiny Moving Parts at Riot Fest, in Chicago. In our interview, guitarist and vocalist Dylan Mattheisen discussed the inspiration behind Pleasant Living: ”Our ideal was to collide everything we like about music into one. We love really technical, crazy stuff, you can say like math rock, with a lot of time signatures and stuff. So we like that stuff and we wanted it to collide with catchy, melodic sing-a-longs. We just tried to find a happy balance with both worlds.”
In speaking of Celebrate, Mattheisen says the band’s third album “is really about optimism. Things get stressful throughout life, and you just need to stay positive or you’ll destroy yourself.” Celebrate was mixed by Vince Ratti (Circa Survive, The Wonder Years, Title Fight) and mastered by Sarah Register (Andrew WK, Brand New, Sia). Celebrate is available for pre-order via Triple Crown Records and through Big Scary Monsters in Europe and the U.K.
