Joywave Share Video For “Destruction” Coachella Slot Confirmed!

Joywave - Best New Bands

New York – Rochester, NY’s Joywave is happy to share a new video for their track “Destruction.” The video was directed by Philip Andelman (Taylor Swift, Jay Z, Ryan Adams, Rufus Wainwright, Beyonce) who stated, “I can’t think of another band that right out of the gate that has created such an interesting canon of video work.  Their first two videos blew me away and therefore I could not have been more excited to get to work with them. The guys were down for anything, and their improv reflexes were razor-sharp.”  Andelman concludes, “One day these guys will have huge egos but for now it’s so refreshing to see a group of musicians so dedicated to their work.  My biggest regret is the lack of dialogue in the video as each scene invariably included some priceless exchanges between the band members.” Joywave’s Daniel Armbruster calls the video a “21st century Spinal Tap odyssey” and went on to say, “We met Phillip outside at our second ever show in Paris. He brought croissants and baguettes for the whole band, which was a very nice gesture. The relationship flourished from there. We stayed at the venue hanging out until well after 10PM. Sometimes when you make a new friend and spend a late night together, that bond becomes eternal. And other times that person follows you back to America and sticks a camera in your face, refusing to go back to their home in France. Phillip, if you’re reading this, STAY AWAY.”

Not only is Joywave sharing the new video for “Destruction,” they have just confirmed a slot at this year’s Coachella Festival where they will be playing on Sunday, April 17 and Sunday, April 24.  Further, the band is heading off on a tour of the US as the direct support for Metric.  The dates kick off February 12 at Chicago’s House of Blues and end at Coachella on April 24. It includes a show at Los Angeles’ Palladium (February 26) and The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on March 11.  The full tour is listed below with more Joywave dates to be added soon.

2015 saw Joywave release their debut LP How Do you Feel Now? (Cultco Music/Hollywood Records) and the band’s collective lives have been a whirlwind of activity ever since. As their singles “Somebody New” and “Now” rose up the alternative radio charts their life on the road mirrored that ascension.  The band toured the US & Europe with the likes of Bleachers, The Kooks &, Brandon Flowers of The Killers, played Summerstage in New York City’s Central Park, as well as to sold-out rooms on their first headline tour WORLD TOUR USA 2015.  They drew massive crowds with festival appearances at Voodoo Music & Arts Experience & Hangout, Reading, Leeds and Lollapalooza Berlin. In short 2015 was a banner year for Joywave and 2016 is set to be even busier for the band.

Since the release of How Do you Feel Now? Joywave has been penning an on-going series on Huffington Post entitled Why Be Credible When You Can Be Incredible?  With each entry the band post an album track and go into great depth discussing its genesis, recording process, and other assorted tidbits.  Insightful and often humorous it has been a unique peephole into the album.   January 5 saw them post the newest entry for the track “Parade” where among other things they discuss how the track syncs with the “pink elephants” scene from Dumbo and further note, “we watched this 900 times (give or take) in the studio. ‘Parade’ is about a headspace, an altered one.”  Read the entire series here.

Joywave make conceptual, humorously self-aware indie rock that’s both meta and personal. Music that is all at once retro, cutting edge and sophisticated. To step inside a Joywave song is to lose yourself in a thoughtfully curated, tech-savvy synthesis of emotions, genres and random noise, blended into an eminently danceable DIY sound smoothie. Add to that an energetic and seamless live performance and the result is a buzz that won’t stop growing.

Joywave is vocalist Daniel Armbruster, guitarist Joseph Morinelli, bassist Sean Donnelly, keyboardist Benjamin Bailey, and drummer Paul Brenner.
