Los Angeles – Michael Kiwanuka is pleased to unveil the video for his new single, Cold Little Heart.
Lifted from his multiple award nominated and chart-topping second album Love & Hate, “Cold Little Heart” is the breath-taking, sprawling opening track that sets the tone for the duration of this beautifully crafted album.
The cinematic short is directed by David Helman and features fast-rising actor, Lakeith “Keith” Stanfield (Get Out/Selma/Short Term 12) in its lead role.

David Helman: “Since the narrative is rooted in grief and centres around the loss of a father figure from the perspective of a young teenager, I knew we needed to cast someone who would immediately connect with our audience on an emotional level. Lakeith has been a close friend who has continued to inspire me with both his talent, but also with his genuine curiosity. You can easily spend hours talking to Lakeith about almost anything and expand your perspective on everything from religion to Death Grips. I wrote this concept with Lakeith in mind from the start because every time we’ve worked together he’s always willing to make himself vulnerable and he’s absolutely fearless in front of the camera.”
Love & Hate is Michael Kiwanuka’s acclaimed second album. It received an incredible reaction from critics globally upon release, and was nominated for the Hyundai Mercury Prize. It has since been nominated for Album of the Year at The BRIT Awards (one of two nominations for the London based artist alongside British Male). Michael was also nominated for Best British Male at the NME Awards last month.
Love & Hate debuted at number 1, and re-introduced this compelling British voice as one of the most critically acclaimed of his generation.
Michael Kiwanuka will return to the US in May for his biggest headline shows to date including a sold-out show at Los Angeles’ famed Fonda Theatre. Complete tour dates below.
