Los Angeles – Swedish indie pop trio Miike Snow has announced plans for a North American summer headline tour, in addition to the band’s current tour. The summer dates begin July 25th at Omaha, Nebraska’s Slowdown and continue through early August, including a stop in Chicago for Lollapalooza. Tickets for all shows will be on sale to the general public beginning Friday, May 6th at 10 a.m. local time. A limited amount of pre-sale tickets will be available starting at 10a.m. local time on Tuesday, May 3rd for Miike Snow newsletter subscribers.
Miike Snow has been touring in support of the band’s third album, iii. Best New Bands’ wrote of Miike Snow’s live performance: “experiencing Miike Snow in person holds a kind of magic that can’t be disputed.” Aside from Lollapalooza, Miike Snow is scheduled to appear at Moogfest, Hangout Music Festival, Boston Calling, Governors Ball Music Festival, and Outside Lands.
“Genghis Khan,” the trios’ lead single from iii, has proven a breakthrough success, becoming a top 5 favorite at Alternative outlets nationwide. The anthemic single was turned into a strikingly provocative music video, directed by Ninian Goff (Royal Blood, The Chemical Brothers, Run The Jewels), which quickly became a viral sensation, drawing more than 5.5 million YouTube views.
“Genghis Khan” has also drawn praise from critics. Billboard commending the track as “more proof that (Miike Snow) are reinventing themselves yet again.” Exclaim.ca declared “Genghis Khan” is “a slinky electro-pop number in which bouncy beats anchor a simple arrangement of synth stabs and sexy, seductive falsetto melodies,” while SPIN made note of the track’s “crisp kick-snare-fill punch and sterling pianos,” declaring it “very much a return to form for the trio,” and Rolling Stone wrote, “A bright, funky reminder of Miike Snow’s serious pop chops.” Noisey hailed the single for its “booming synth hits, and a melt of different vocals layering over each other, making the track another certified banger.”
