Chicago – Pioneering punk festival Riot Fest has announced its 2016 Chicago and Denver lineups. Riot Fest 2016 will take place September 2-4 in Denver and September 16-18 in Chicago. Just days earlier, news broke that the original Misfits would be reuniting to perform together at both U.S. Riot Fest dates, for the first time since the 80s. Now the initial lineups for Denver and Chicago have been announced.

The lineups at the Chicago and Denver festivals differ, but some of the stand-out performers include Morrissey, Death Grips, Against Me!, Jimmy Eat World, the Hives, the Dandy Warhols, Danny Brown, Yo La Tengo, White Lung, Brand New, the Specials, the Descendents, and GZA. Keeping up with past years, some acts with performing entire albums: The Hold Steady will be playing Boys and Girls in America in Denver and Chicago Jane’s Addiction will be performing Ritual de lo Habitual in Denver, Rob Zombie will be performing White Zombie’s Astro-Creep: 2000 in Chicago, and Social Distortion will be performing, White Light, White Heat, White Trash in Chicago. The Misfits, Deftones, Death Cab For Cutie, Nas, Motion City Soundtrack (who are retiring after this tour), and Ween are set to play both Riot Fest cities. Within the coming days, more artists will be announced. A complete list of all the announced performers can be found below.

Over ten years ago, Riot Fest began in Chicago as a multi-venue festival, taking place at the close of summer, but has grown into a three day long outdoor festival and carnival, with U.S. dates in Denver and Chicago. Last year, Riot Fest’s Chicago festival moved from Humboldt Park to Douglas Park, after months of speculation whether not the fest would even take place and a last-minute lawsuit. Riot Fest makes for one last hurrah for summer, though the Chicago fest often sees all four seasons within the three-day weekend.
