BestNewBands.com and Interscope Records are giving away a numbered, limited edition print (pictured above) by artist Kii Arens, suitable for framing, of the artwork from Ellie Goulding’s recent album, Halcyon, to one lucky winner. And we’re throwing in a CD copy of Halcyon for good measure!
Halcyon, Goulding’s second album, was released last fall and debuted on the Billboard Album Chart at #9. The British singer enjoyed a hit single with “Anything Could Happen,” which she performed on many network TV appearances including Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Today Show and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. A re-release of her song, “Lights,” from her debut album, became a huge U.S. hit.
BestNewBands.com named Goulding our Featured Artist (the category was then known as Artist of the Week) just as the LP was released. As BestNewBands.com editor Daniel Kohn noted: “What makes Goulding’s sound different and allows for it to stand out are her distinct soprano vocals. Though she’s able to hit the high notes, there’s a rough edge to it, which makes it sound like a rock or folk singer, yet retains a certain uniqueness that helps define her as a singer.”
Goulding has spent much of 2013 performing live including her current arena dates opening for Bruno Mars, as she wraps up promotion for Halcyon. Her likely most memorable live performance was singing Elton John’s “Your Song” at the 2011 wedding reception of Britain’s Prince Williams and Kate Middleton.
In BestNewBands.com’s first critics poll last December, the Newbie Awards, we named Goulding Best New Female Artist.
