Exitmusic

I’m most anticipating the Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar, and Secretly Canadian CMJ Showcase at Union Pool in Brooklyn. This is a totally winning lineup of Exitmusic, Porcelain Raft, Parts & Labor, and Gauntlet Hair. Yes, Gauntlet Hair again. Let’s be honest, most of the bands performing at CMJ have at least two gigs a day, which eases the frustration of deciding who to see and when, if only minimally. Also, the headliner of this show is a secret mystery special guest. Let the speculations begin! This 21+ show all starts at 7:30pm, and tickets are $12adv/$15dos/free with a CMJ badge.

Talk Normal, by Riny Van Eijk

And elsewhere in Brooklyn, Death by Audio is hosting the M’Lady Records Showcase, featuring Talk Normal and Grass Widow, among others. Both of these all-female bands make post-punk art rock with different textures, but something tells me they have some overlapping influences, and they certainly have something to say. Talk Normal headlines this all ages show that starts at 8pm with a $10 entry.
