An interview with NYC’s Elizabeth & the Catapult at SXSW

My dealings with Elizabeth & the Catapult have been exciting but strangely off-kilter: I spoke with lead singer Elizabeth (surprise) last September, and fellow BnB contributor Katrina Nattress even reviewed her sophomore album The Other Side of Zero (for the respective BestNewBands.com exclusive articles please click here and here). I was stoked to see her perform in LA last fall, but the show was canceled due to an illness in the band. I was pretty revved up to both interview and review her performance at South by Southwest, but unfortunately due to some technological difficulties with my Flip cam I was unable to capture any of her live performance. Luckily, she was sweet enough to brave some serious winds in order to speak to me Friday morning, and I was delighted to find that her bubbly and creative visage translated to her personality as easily as with her music. I felt a rapport with the pint-sized singer almost immediately, and the interview above felt more like a conversation with a new gal pal than anything else.
