Icon Underground is standing at the threshold of a brand new musical movement. By combining a high-octane hybrid of booming beats, solid songwriting and rapid-fire rapping, this band has already carved its own niche through the electronic dance community and is currently on a steadfast mission to raise the bar on the entire underground music scene.
When the songwriting team of David Valencia and Christopher Wight first birthed Icon Underground in Los Angeles in 2003, the pair immediately shared the same vision of creating an organic explosion of meaningful music for the mind, the body and the spirit. By intertwining an eclectic array of influences into a primarily dance influenced format, Icon Underground also created a unique sound that is broadly accepted by the dance music community without falling under the restrictive umbrella of traditional dance music. Joined on stage by drummer eVL_e, Icon Underground established a one-two punch of emotion and energy that immediately rose above what other electronic acts were doing on the live club circuit. Word of Icon Undergrounds powerful performances quickly began to spread like wildfire propelling the band to Europe to perform for MTV and returning stateside performing along side heavy hitters like DJ Irene and P-Funk legend, George Clinton. Further adding to the bands list of credentials, DJ Irene was so impressed by the pioneering pair that Icon Underground was also invited to collaborate with her on multiple tracks for her latest albums, Rockstar and DJ Irene: Live @ Spundae. The band complemented the collaboration by touring in multiple markets across the country while the anticipation surrounding a full-length Icon Underground album continued to grow at a record pace.
