Mixtape: More SXSW 2014 With Deap Vally, AIMES, PHOX And More

New York – It’s already poppin’ down in Austin, and we’ve already shared our artists we’d like to see at SXSW, plus a bunch of preview tracks on the last mixtape, but we’re just going to keep right on going like all you SXSW partiers with your energy drinks and give you another playlist full of SXSW artists.

New Partisan Records signee PHOX is a band of multi-instrumentalists from Madison, WI, and they are one of the bands you’re going to hear a lot more about in the near future.

Last week Brooklyn psych pop band Spires announced their string of SXSW shows, and new single “Candy Flip” out on a 7 inch at Rough Trade.

Seattle’s Tangerine makes super cute grunge pop with some doo wop. Check out their SXSW dates here.

Also with a slew of dates is Warm Soda, who just released new LP Young Reckless Hearts. Some solid lo-fi garage pop, right here.

We’re all up in Deap Vally right now, and the two wild looking hard blues rock women recently shared their new live video for “Walk of Shame.” They are all up in SXSW too, with seven shows scheduled.

Canadian “dark new age” band Doomsquad sounds super tribal trippy, and their south by shows will probably be the same.

Alabama born, Brooklyn resident Aman Ellis is AIMES, a psychedelic space pop project that just debuted new trance jammer single, “Time For Us.” AIMES actually has a handful of dates in Mexico during the festival, but you know, if you happen to get lost and wander even further south…

Brooklyn’s GHXST shared new video for “Dead Town,” a clip that pays tribute to the VU, filled with dark underground images to go along with the doom grunge track

NYC four-piece Pampers recently caught my attention with “Purple Brain,” a great little punk tune that makes them sound like they would be fun live.

Destruction Unit has the craziest SXSW schedule I’ve seen yet – they’ve got 14 shows booked in 6 days. They might die. Try to catch them play “Slow Death Sounds” before that, though.
