Via Twitter Al Yankovic shares an outtake rarity from “The Alternative Polka” (iTunes link), which apparently met the cutting room floor due to a misunderstanding with Rivers Cuomo. Which is dumb for Rivers — everyone knows you’re not part of the cultural zeitgeist until Weird Al covers you. Though this is a sample of a longer polka medley on Al’s Bad Hair Day album, but as a standalone, this :20 clip does a nice job summing up the ’90s, mashing two seconds of “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” with “Buddy Holly” (iTunes links).
