You may remember Celilo from an earlier post where I praised their thoughtful songwriting and cohesive sound. I can only guess that they have grown more cohesive as they work on their follow up album to 2009’s Bending Mirrors. The album received a fair amount of critical acclaim, and deservedly so.

If you like Bon Iver, Neil Young or The Fleet Foxes, you’ll love this earthy indie-Americana band. Things to look forward to? “Four Fields Up,” a dreamy, moody song and “Street Sweeper,” my favorite Celilo track so far. Many of their songs give a nod to their late drummer, Kipp Crawford. It’s comforting to see the band working through what was assuredly a dark time for them all.
You’ll also most likely hear more new songs from their upcoming album, which was 70% done the last time I saw them. I hope Celilo has added a few more percentage points to that tally.
Put it on your calendar. It’s bound to be a great show!
