BNBTV Exclusive: Chris McGuire’s “Leaderless Mural”

Last summer I was working in the receiving room of Barnes and Noble with my boss, Kyle, when we received a new guy to help us out. He was soft-spoken, with a gentle, good-natured demeanor. He was also shy. So shy that we found it difficult to get him to talk much. After a few days of uncomfortable silence, which led to light teasing, we found out he was a musician.

His name is Chris McGuire, and his solo effort, Head of Mistakes, has just finished an album No Context, a collection of instrumental songs spanning a wide range of tones and moods. Unlike most instrumental endeavors, which end up as excuses for musicians to jam and show of their musicianship, Chris’ songs manage to find a voice without vocals or lyrics. The instruments work in unison, telling stories with emotional climaxes and resolutions, full of brilliantly rich and colorful arrangements.

Chris agreed to release this song exclusive for BlueComet.TV, which I think is a treat for everyone. It’s called “Leaderless Mural,” and it is embedded after the jump…
