Luna Aura Captures Cosmic Attention

Luna AuraNew York – Singer, songwriter and producer of self-described “cosmic dream pop electronica”, Luna Aura, is set to release her new EP Supernova on August 7th . This is the Phoenix Arizona native’s follow-up to  her 2014’s self-titled debut EP. Luna Aura’s music has already been featured on soundtracks across VH1 and MTV, and she’s shared the stage with household names K. Flay, The Ting Tings and Steve Aoki.  She is poised to be the next left-field pop sensation.

Aura started performing at a young age, and has already cultivated a niche for herself. She employs radio-friendly, upbeat tracks alongside strong vocals which lends her sound a sense of undeniable empowerment.  Her EP, Supernova, opens with the forthright, ballad-tinged track “Like You”. It’s clear her unabashedly accessible lyricisms and steady, deliberate beats will be embraced by a multitude of fans, young and old alike.

Calling to mind current electro-pop contemporaries Zella Day and Ryn Weaver, Luna Aura also fairly successfully pulls off an eclectic mix of trap and R&B in “Gravity”.  The title nods to both the EP’s title and her out-of-this-world projected image. Aura’s employment and infusion of multiple genres laced with pop vocals create undeniably catchy beats that even the most pretentious listener could catch themselves nodding their head to.

The single “Dancing With Your Ghost” calls to mind a mixture of the earnestness of Alex Winston and the sincere hooks of Ella Henderson. Luna Aura utilizes a myriad of electronic ingredients to support her simple and succinct lyricisms which offers a track made for Top 40 plays.  Her ability to connect with the listener makes this track a necessity for anyone looking for a guilty-pleasure pick me up. One can imagine Aura’s live shows packing a punch with this as the closing number.

This attention to elements that will be successfully conveyed in a live performance is showcased on the EP’s strongest track, the title track “Supernova”.  In “Supernova”, Luna Aura’s appreciation of hip-hop styling is brought to the forefront. Its showcased in this dance floor ready anthem that reminds the listener of the singer’s diverse and natural talent as a performer.  “You ain’t never seen it done quite like this”, she proclaims, and its true. Aura has definitely got that something else factor. At any rate, it’s obvious that this track will feature prominently and popularly at Aura’s future gigs.

For anyone who might criticize the almost overtly commercially-ready aspects of the EP, there’s that bit of irrefutable star quality that keeps the singer from falling through the cracks that so many others making music in a similar vein have.  Aura demonstrates her dedication to standing out from the crowd. With, Supernova she paints a convincing portrait that ensures people will be paying attention.

“Trigger”, the final track on Supernova, features more of Luna Aura’s signature pulsating rhythms and exhibits her mastery of a niche genre. It highlights the singer’s  ability to make people care.   Say what you will about artists that seem streamlined for commercial success, but there’s a reason these performers are where they are. Aura shows that sometimes being uncomplicated and fun is definitely underrated, and being unpretentious can be a really good thing.

Supernova is out August 7th.  You can catch Luna Aura live on the West Coast August 10th and 29th respectively.  In the meantime, keep up with the artist on her Facebook and Twitter pages, where future tour dates are soon to be announced.
