In addition to so many band titles feature woodland and farmland creatures–Deerhoof, Deerhunter, Fleet Foxes, Foxes in Fiction, Mountain Goats, Band of Horses, Wolfmother, Wolf Parade, Grizzly Bear, Sea Wolf, Fruit Bats; need I go on?–we now have one more addition: Deer Meet. And while most of these aforementioned bands have a decidedly whimsical indie-folk feel, Deer Meet has a bit harder and edgier of a sound. This tune, “Old Man,” immediately reminded me of a Ramones track (especially a poppier track like “Slug“), and had me head-bobbing in no time. This short track (at just over 2 minutes) is peppy from the get go and stays quick and upbeat throughout, in true punk style. And, while this relatively mellow punk isn’t going to terrify your mother, it will still get her rocking steady.
