Verity in Stereo. Hmm. My first reaction is to look up the word ‘verity.’
verity |ˈveritē|: noun ( pl. -ties), a true principle or belief, esp. one of fundamental importance : the eternal verities.
Now, “in Stereo”? How about ‘through sound.’ Ok. Truth through sound. I can dig this.
Now I listen.
Haunting female voice emerges. Girl on screen is confused. She is now bleeding. Beat change. More blood, confusion. Interesting…
My first thought: they’re trying to go for a Regina Spektor/Florence + the Machine sound. Second thought: This reminds me of the Vanessa Carlton albums I listened to when I was 13 years old. Third thought: I actually sort of like this…
This song fits for nostalgia, in my case. Reminds me of being young and dreaming of light-drenched, dusty rooms filled with pianos and flowing dresses. Reminds me of overacted storylines that you couldn’t help but love and writing in journals about boys.
Guys beware, you probably won’t like this, unless you’re into the whole female singer-songwriter thing. Girls, this might be more up your alley.
It has a delicious high drama sound, and the changing beats will either keep you interested or leave you annoyed (interested, for me). Singer Kiirstin Kuhi’s voice is wonderful and rich, and the music is enjoyable. As for the ‘truth through sound’ aspect, I’m not so sure where it leaves me. Probably just sounds cool.
Overall, this sound is not something I personally would develop an obsession over, but it would certainly weasel its way into my headphones at times.
Have an awesome Thanksgiving everyone!
