Chicago - Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers, the San Francisco sextet that beautifully blends together the colors of indie rock, soul, a touch of blues and a nice layer of folk, will be traveling to Chicago and making themselves at home for more than a single show! Strewn amidst other performances on their current tour, the ambitious west coasters will be occupying a spot at a local venue, Schuba’s, as part of a month long residency. The first night for this steady stint will be held next month, on April 14, 2015.
Earlier this month, Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers released “High Neck Lace,” the first single from their forthcoming album, Loved Wild Lost and that was when fans also got a brief first word on this extended stay in Chicago.
The band will performing at the club each Tuesday during the month after that (April 14, 21 and 28). The second week of their residency will undoubtedly be a show filled with extra hype and excitement, as that coincides with the day of the group’s album release.
Loved Wild Lost presents itselfas a follow up record filled with beaming promise, not shrinking in the shadow of the Bay Area-based band’s self-titled debut (2013). Supported and produced by Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine and Josh Ritter), this project marks the first time Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers have worked with an outside collaborator. The choice to do so has served them extremely well, with the resulting record being comprised of an irrefutably compelling set of compositions, just waiting to be enjoyed by fans. The inclusion of San Francisco’s Magik*Magik Orchestra (Death Cab for Cutie, The Walkmen and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds), injects a dimension of intricacy and the orchestra’s arrangements only help to reinforce the ageless and ubiquitous themes that make up Loved Wild Lost.
