New York – Having recently announced their highly anticipated sophomore album, Every Open Eye (out 9/25 on Glassnote) and massive North American tour, Scottish trio CHVRCHES are excited to share the video for their single “Leave A Trace,” directed by Warren & Nick (Bjork, Massive Attack, UNKLE).
CHVRCHES also recently shared a second track, “Never Ending Circles,” from the new album. Stereogum reviewed the song remarking that “they continue their track record for sparkling synth-pop excellence.” The song is available for download now as an instant-grat for those pre-ordering the album.
The anticipation for the new album continues to build, with the band currently on the cover of Under The Radar and featured in New York Magazine’s Fall Fashion Issue, proclaiming that “Every Open Eye expands on the sound of Bones; it’s bolder and even catchier than its predecessor. Mayberry has become a more self-assured front woman, and Cook and Doherty have become better producers, confident enough to do more with less.”
Every Open Eye is the follow up to the band’s breakthrough debut album The Bones of What You Believe, which was released in autumn 2013 to widespread critical acclaim and went on to sell over 500,000 copies worldwide. The Brit Award nominated band clocked in 364 shows in 2 years, selling out venues across the world and making signature appearances at SXSW (where they were awarded the inaugural prize for best new act in 2013), Glastonbury, Coachella, Lollapalooza, Reading and Leeds, and myriad others.
Late last year Iain Cook, Martin Doherty and Lauren Mayberry returned to their own Alucard Studios – a converted flat on the southside of Glasgow where their stunning debut was conceived – and began developing ideas they had recorded in venues during their time on the road. The band found riffs, loops and melodies they wanted to develop or started from scratch on the synthesizers, samplers and drum machines they had been gathering in their basement to create the instrumentals of the songs. Vocal melodies were developed as the songs took shape with the lyrics added last, developed from words and sentences from notebooks Mayberry had kept on tour.
Known for their mesmerizing live shows, CHVRCHES will be hitting the road in support of Every Open Eye this fall. Please see newly announced tour dates and previously announced festival dates below and be sure to check in regularly at www.chvrch.es for all band and tour updates.
