New York – Indie folk rocker Courtney Barnett and her band are beginning a month-long North American tour, co-headlining with avant-garde outfit San Fermin.
Hot off the heels of a sold-out run of shows in her native Australia and New Zealand, the singer-songwriter will be playing songs from her critically acclaimed release, The Double EP: A Sea Of Split Peas.
The tour caps off what has been an incredible 12 months for Barnett since her U.S. live debut at CMJ last year. Since then, the 26-year-old has gone on to play The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, major North American music festivals including Lollapalooza and Coachella, and toured the world. Barnett’s tour comes full circle, as they’ll be making a return visit to this month’s CMJ Music Marathon.
In January, Best New Bands singled her out as one of our 8 New Bands To Watch In 2014, calling her “an amazing storyteller and poet.” Our review of her performance at Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory earlier this year, called her: “an utterly endearing personality. If ever a breakout musician deserved accolade as of late, Barnett is it.”
Brooklyn’s San Fermin is the impressive project of composer and songwriter Ellis Ludwig-Leone.
