Dawes Release New Video; Launch Interactive Site, Announce Tour Dates

Dawes by Noah Abrams

New York – LA rock quartet Dawes’ new video for the title track of their current album, All Your Favorite Bands, has been released. The highly creative and amusing clip for the new single, directed by Kevin Hayes, premiered yesterday and features footage of many of the band’s musician friends lip synching to the song and ends sweetly with front man Taylor Goldsmith singing with the children’s chorus from McKinley Elementary in Davenport, Iowa.

“This is really a video made by our friends,” says Goldsmith. “All we told everyone is that we wanted some footage of them singing our song. All of their different settings and situations were completely their ideas. We had no idea what to expect. But we really love how it came together and for us, it really seems to suggest the musical family we feel lucky enough to have been a part of over the last six years.”

Dawes have also launched a unique interactive website where fans from around the world can contribute to a collaborative Spotify playlist that will highlight their favorite bands. The site serves as both a tool for music discovery and creates an interesting view of Dawes’ fans music tastes. With the site, the band is trying to capture the sincere sentiment in the line “may all your favorite bands stay together,” and create an environment where music fans can learn about each other’s favorite bands and hopefully find some new ones to love.

Dawes’ highly acclaimed latest album All Your Favorite Bands has been receiving rave reviews. Rolling Stone called the album ”their strongest record since their 2009 debut,” while American Songwriter said, ”All Your Favorite Bands is an inspired record full of space, swagger and warm, analog glow. Dave Rawlings’ production feels raw and roughhewn at points, but it suits the music, making the nine-song disc feel less like a studio project and more like a bootleg of a killer gig in which everyone’s well-rested, supercharged and just the right amount of drunk .” The NY Daily News claimed, “All Your Favorite Bands wins on every level – in observation, performance, composition and sound,” and Ken Tucker, in his review on NPR’s Fresh Air, said the band “has managed to make an album that grapples with sadness in a way that avoids downbeat ballads. Instead, this is the sound of a band stretching out, letting the melodies and Taylor Goldsmith’s vocals illustrate the range and depth of doubt and regret as eloquently as any breakup lyric could possibly describe.”

All Your Favorite Bands is Dawes’ fourth album and second on their own label. It was produced by David Rawlings at Woodland Sound Studios in Nashville, TN, and includes nine bracing new original recordings written by Goldsmith, except for the title track, which was co-written with Jonny Fritz. The album highlights the outstanding musicianship of Taylor (lead vocals, guitar), Griffin Goldsmith (drums, background vocals), Wylie Gelber (bass) and Tay Strathairn (keyboards, background vocals) that Dawes fans around the world have come to cherish. All Your Favorite Bands also features the vocal support of Gillian Welch and The McCrary Sisters, as well as David Rawlings on guitar and vocals, Richard Bennett on acoustic guitar and Paul Franklin on pedal steel. Order the album at iTunes or Amazon.
