Chicago - Django Django, the British quartet made up of Dave Maclean (producer/drummer), Vinnie Neff (singer/guitarist), Jimmy Dixon (bass) and Tommy Grace (synths), are about release their sophomore record, Born Under Saturn, which comes out next week via Ribbon Music (and Because overseas).
Today, the band present the music video for their second single, “Reflections,” which shows the band transformed into otherworldly digital sculptures. Filmed at Framestore film studios, which is known in association with the film Gravity, director Natalia Stuyk describes the work as “a futuristic and surreal take on the traditional performance music video.”
The digital version of the band’s performance was made using experimental Motion Capture and Face Shift technologies, which enabled each player’s movements to be changed into an abstract sculpture of their own creation.
Born Under Saturn broadens the slippery, indefinable nature of the band’s self-titled debut, applying all of the same peppy art-rock fueled imagination, only along a much larger canvas. Throughout, Django Django continues to find magic in the unexplored spaces between musical genres. Beach Boys harmonies and Link Wray riffs crisscross with house music pianos, while classical keyboard flourishes meld with Jamaican and African rhythms. Listen to the album in its entirety now via iTunes First Play. Django Django are also currently on tour in Europe but have a few U.S. show dates slated for later in the summer. See the full list of dates below.
