Elle King Covers “American Girl”

New York – Having just released her critically-acclaimed debut album, Love Stuff, back in February, Elle King, the multi-faceted pop, blues, and rock and roll singer, has now released a new song! King took on the task of covering “American Girl,” a classic song by The Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. King’s interpretation of the track is featured in upcoming film, “Hot Pursuit,” which stars Reese Witherspoon and Sofía Vergara. (The film comes to theaters May 8, 2015.)

This is the second track Elle King has released in support of “Hot Pursuit,” following the song, “Catch Us If You Can,” which was also recorded for the movie and released on April 14. That first song was produced by David Bassett and written by Hillary Scott, the Grammy-Award winning artist of Lady Antebellum, along with with Sara Chrenow, Charlie Peacock and Todd Clark.

In addition to her work recording for “Hot Pursuit,” King has also been giving a few live performances of her current single “Ex’s & Ohs,” including appearances on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Today Show and Late Night With Seth Meyers.

Fans can look forward to King going on tour as the opening act for select dates on James Bay’s sold out tour, which starts May 7, 2015 in Denver, CO. King will also be performing at several festivals in the coming months, including: Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Hangout Fest, and Squamish Valley Music Festival. Previous touring has seen King teaming up with the likes of Of Monsters and Men, Ed Sheeran, Train and many others. The full list of dates is shown below.
