Portland – Dream pop duo turned fivesome Field Mouse has released the new, dazzling single “The Mirror,” from the band’s upcoming album Episodic. Field Mouse is comprised of Rachel Browne (vocals, guitar), Andrew Futral (guitar), Saysha Heinzman (bass), Tim McCoy (drums), and Zoë Browne (synth, rhodes, vocals), and the five would like you to know their astrological signs are Virgo, Sagittarius, Taurus, Gemini and Libra. We don’t need to read a zodiac chart to know the stars aligned for Field Mouse because “The Mirror” is all we need to say the band is back and better than ever!

2014′s Hold Still Life saw Field Mouse evolve from a fiery two-piece into a full-fledged band. Now the Philly slash Brooklyn band has transformed yet again with the new album Episodic - out August 5th via Topshelf Records – as they’ve learned to let go, abandoning past persuasions for an untamed escapade. The band’s initial work was self-recorded by founding members Rachel Browne and Andrew Futral, but the new record was composed by all members of the quintet, from start to finish, making the album more defined with a sound fully-realized by a band truly coming in to its own, honesty and directly.

Episodic was recorded in Philadelphia with Hop Along’s Joe Reinhart and was written through a “twelve month period which delivered sudden family illness and a deteriorating relationship.” The album showcases the band’s amazing ability to switch between mood and tone, shifting from the spiky immediacy of tracks such as “Accessory” and “A Widow With A Terrible Secret,” to the more expansive moments, such as the monumental center-piece “Beacon,” but it does so without ever losing sight of the scuzzy, melodic pop songs Field Mouse became known for. Episodic  features guest appearances by Sadie Dupuis (Speedy Ortiz), Allison Crutchfield (Waxahatchee), and Joseph D’Agostino (Cymbals Eat Guitars).
