New York – This past weekend might have felt like any other for most, but, for the hazy punks of Honduras, the marking of their third anniversary as a band came and went, (March 7, 2012) with the Brooklyn band commemorating the occasion with a hometown show at Aviv.
Patrick Phillips (vocals, guitar), Tyson Moore (lead guitar), Paul Lizarraga (bass) and Josh Wehle (drums) channel a style sound that is reminiscent of early punk from the 1970s –a classic decade for what is has been a genre with staying power. However, Hoduras also infuse their music with slices of indie and garage energy that makes them project a performance style all their own. The NYC borough bandmates have accumulated a reputation buzzing live shows and fans are often packing their playlists with predecessors like the Buzzcocks and Sex Pistols.
The floods of Austin, Texas ticket buyers only increasing each day, Honduras’s fans can now add the group’s name to personal “lists of reasons to attend SXSW,” as the quartet will be giving a sizable amount of performances at the famed festival. These shows are also right in the middle of a very busy month that sees their SXSW shows bolstered on either side with show dates all throughout March, in other cities around the U.S. Full information is below.
In spite of Honduras’s young age, this band has already has shared show bills with long established groups like like the Kaiser Chiefs and Drowners in just the past year –and their debut, full length album, Rituals, has yet to even be released! (Some might remember the lively show Honduras put on for Total Slackers Brooklyn release party last February, covered by Best New Bands contributor, Kelly Knapp)
While listeners anxiously await the drop of Honduras’s record, the foursome have whet the appetites of fans via a new single from the record titled, “Paralyzed.”
Honduras’s debut record, Rituals, is expected out in June via Black Bell Records.
