New York – New York City natives, The Knocks, known separately as Ben “DJ B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson, are getting closer and closer to the release of their next EP, So Classic. The extended play will be released April 7, via Big Beat Records/Neon Gold. Mike Del Rio took the helm on executive production and his own project, POWERS, co-writes and is featured on So Classic. Alex Newell, cast member on the TV show, Glee, is also featured.
The newest source of excitement over this EP comes in the form of a new music video, for the EP’s lead track, “Dancing With Myself.” JPatt steps into the forefront with this track and the video sheds a spotlight on New York City’s Chinatown and highlights some impressive synchronized choreography from present passers-by. Check it out below.
“Dancing With Myself” – co-produced by Mike Del Rio – is a sultry slow-jam with tasteful disco riffs added in. The video, which was directed and produced by Tyler Richardson, Jameson Rich, and Kevin Tkach, follows the duo through NYC’s Chinatown and features some pretty amazing synchronized choreography from passers-by!
Despite having only released a few EP projects in the last few years as The Knocks, JPatt and DJ B-Roc have still carved out a respectable name for themselves, as the minds behind a plethora of remixes that turned the music of artists like Haim, Passion Pit, Foster The People, The 1975, Santigold, Ellie Goulding and Two Door Cinema into songs with a totally new tone of musical color worth hearing. JPatt’s background with funk and soul, teaming with B-Roc’s knowledge of hip-hop and trip-hop beats are what forged the duo’s original sound.
A debut full length is expected from The Knocks for release later this spring. The pair are also prepping for a string of spring shows, which are listed below as well.
