New York – L.A. indie rock band Local Natives has shared a new track from its forthcoming LP Sunlit Youth, out September 9th via Loma Vista. “Coins” is the album’s soulful centerpiece, and is streaming now accompanied by an animated visual created by Adam Fuchs. The band says of the track:
“Coins” has quickly become one of our favorite songs to play live. Even at these early shows, there’s been an immediacy in the room that makes us feel like it’s been around for years. We couldn’t hold out to September to release this one.
Leading up to the release of Sunlit Youth, Local Natives performed on James Corden and Conan on back-to-back weeks, Lollapalooza, and staged a guerilla performance on the roof of the band’s Sunset Blvd rehearsal space that was written up by the LA Times, Billboard, etc. Local Natives streamed the whole thing via Facebook Live, with 2 Million reached, 550k+ views.
“A lot of the excitement in making this new album came from discovering how to make songs in different ways,” Ryan Hahn says. Sunlit Youth caps a trilogy of albums for Local Natives, which began with the 2010 breakout Gorilla Manor, followed by 2013′s Hummingbird, which earned worldwide acclaim and opened at #12 on the Billboard 200. Together, the two albums have sold over 300,000 copies worldwide.
