The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart – Bonus Tracks, Fall Tour

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart

New York – Indie pop band The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart have just released a deluxe edition of their 2014 LP, Days Of Abandon, including five new songs.

In his review when the album was originally released earlier this summer, Best New Bands’ Corey Bell wrote: “The album reads like a love letter to the heartbreak felt in 70s/80s dark wave and Gothic alternative rock, and serves as homage to many of that music’s pioneers, namely Bauhaus, Joy Division, and The Cure.

“The Gothic theme continues, dealing with death, apocalypse, (and) unrequited love.”

The New York-based group’s principal, singer-guitarist Kip Berman, said: “This album was a chance to push beyond Belong‘s (the group’s second album from 2011) universal style of songwriting into something that was far more personal and true to my ideals.  I wanted the music to be joyful, lush and full of possibility, even if the subjects were often more painful to confront.”

One of the new tracks, “Summer Of Dreams,” is a catchy, upbeat song that veers from much of Days Of Abandon’s other material.

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart will join The New Pornographers on tour this Fall for a full North American run, starting October 4.
