Los Angeles – In the wake of breakout performances at Sasquatch and Bonnaroo and with sets at Newport Folk, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, and ACL still on deck, Shakey Graves’ non-stop tour schedule grows even further with the announcement of more headlining dates this fall.
Fondly dubbed “The Die Hard Tour” by Alejandro Rose-Garcia (aka Shakey Graves) and his backing band, the dates include major venues on both coasts, including Terminal 5 (NYC) and The Theatre at Ace Hotel (LA), and two-night runs at 9:30 Club (DC), Royale (Boston) and the Ogden Theatre (Denver), with more TBA soon. Tennis and Those Darlins will open select shows. See below for a complete list of confirmed dates.
Shakey Graves is touring behind the new album ‘And The War Came’ (Dualtone), which continues to build momentum months after its release, recently earning him three Americana Music Association Awards nominations, including “Album Of The Year,” “Emerging Artist of The Year,” and “Song Of The Year” for the top five Triple A radio hit “Dearly Departed.”
Recently appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman, Conan, Late Night with Seth Myers, and VH1′s Big Morning Buzz, Shakey Graves reached another milestone with a recent performance taping for Austin City Limits, set to air later this year.
Named our “Best New Male Artist” for 2013, other critics have taken notice too, including NPR Music’s Ann Powers, who named ‘And the War Came’ one of her top albums of last year, describing Rose-Garcia’s intricate compositions as a musical “labyrinth” and his songs as “little magic boxes to fascinate the mind,” saying “this album blessed me with mystery…I turn to this music when I want to get lost.”
LA Times critic Randy Lewis was stunned after catching a live set, calling Shakey Graves’ performance “boundary-pushing,” and “electrifying.” Esquire declared him “a rising folk hero,” and Garden & Gun called ‘And The War Came’ “one of the year’s most astonishing records.”
