New York – Noise-inspired indie pop band, Surfer Blood, has announced a set of national headlining show dates, in support of their tertiary record, 1000 Palms. (The band’s last release, 2013′s Pythons, was reviewed by Best New Bands.) The West Palm Beach based group recently performed a special acoustic version of the single, “I Can’t Explain,” during a studio session the band had at Pacific Beat Recording Studio with San Diego’s 91X. While 1000 Palms is Surfer Blood’s third full-length album, it marks a new start and a first release of sorts, as it is the Florida band’s first project with the esteemed indie, imprint label, Joyful Noise. Surfer Blood’s decision to work with Joyful Noise signifies not just a change in the association with which the band moves forward but it also represents Surfer Blood’s desire to reignite their DIY philosophy. Parting with the major studio lifestyle, the quintet chose to come back to their home and undertake 1000 Palms themselves –the work is self-recorded and self-produced. Now able to make artistic choices without any influence or restriction of major label bureaucracy, Surfer Blood is ready to offer the music world a refreshed and intriguing album that undoubtedly matches their recent changes and transformed sense of drive.
