Los Angeles-based (by way of New Zealand) band The Naked And Famous have debuted a video for “I Kill Giants,” the new single from their second album, In Rolling Waves (Republic Records). The autobiographical song features lead singer Alisa Xayalith’s personal and heartbreaking vocals about losing her mother to cancer when the singer was only seven. The clip was directed by their long-time video collaborator, Joel Kefali, who has also recently worked with fellow NZ new artist, Lorde.
The Naked And Famous recently finished a US tour, where our Ian Joulain caught them at LA’s Wiltern Theater and wrote that the new band was “taking its next step toward fully becoming a household name. Their greatest strength remains in the harmonic dynamic between Alisa Xayalith, keys and vocals, and her co-band leader/boyfriend, Thom Powers.” TNAF are now touring Europe. After a holiday season hiatus, they do a batch of NZ/Australian dates before returning stateside to open for Imagine Dragons’ arena tour in February and March.
In Rolling Waves was recorded in LA and released in September. It follows the success of their debut, Passive Me, Aggressive You which yielded the gold single, “Young Blood,” thus delivering the latter half of their name.
