New York – Indie band Walk The Moon have announced the release of their second album, Talking Is Hard, on December 2 on RCA Records. The album is produced by Tim Pagnotta (Neon Trees, LP, among others).
“Shut Up and Dance,” the first single off the album, was released last month and held the #1 spot on the Spotify viral top 50 U.S. chart for the following two weeks.
The Cincinnati-based band performed “Shut Up and Dance” for the first time on NBC’s Late Night With Seth Meyers on September 15 and released the official video shortly thereafter.
Walk The Moon’s sold-out “Shut Up And Tour 2014” kicked off earlier this month in Seattle, WA and will wrap up in Philly on November 5. The very specialized tour features performances at more intimate venues with a combination of their classic hits and music from the upcoming album. We profiled their recent Bumbershoot Festival appearance HERE, noting “the quartet has a knack for crafting strong pop tunes with a foundation in art rock and New Wave.” In the coming weeks Walk The Moon will announce plans for their next tour in spring 2015.
The remaining dates for the 2014 tour:
November 1 Cambridge, MA The Sinclair
November 2 New York, NY Bowery Ballroom
November 4 Washington, DC U Street Music Hall
November 5 Philadelphia, PA Underground Arts
Walk The Moon consists of Nicholas Petricca (lead singer, songwriter and keyboard player), Eli Maiman (guitar, vocals), Kevin Ray (bass, vocals) and Sean Waugaman (drums, vocals) all hailing from Ohio. The band’s first single, “Anna Sun,” and its music video became a viral sensation with over 9 million views to date.
Walk The Moon was named one of MTV’s 2012 Artists To Watch. The band made their network television debut with a spotlight feature on NBC’s Last Call With Carson Daly and would follow up that performance with appearances on Letterman, Fallon and Conan. That same year they would embark on their first headlining tour having previously toured with a variety of bands including Weezer, Grouplove, Young the Giant and Kaiser Chiefs.
