Chicago – Just shy of a full year since the release of the universally lauded Lost In The Dream (March 18, 2014), indie rock band, The War On Drugs, (Best New Bands’ 2014 Newbie Award Winners), have just announced a collection of fresh tour dates right around their performances for Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Governor’s Ball, Sasquatch and Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. Full information and ticket links are below.
This news comes just shortly after the band earned praise with a nomination in The Brit Awards for “International Group” and a pair of sold out shows at the O2 Brixton Academy, the latter of which, Best New Bands’ contributor, Tony Hardy, covered here.
Expanding their list of already released March and April southeast and southwest tour dates, the Philadelphia, PA based band will be starting the tour with a show in their hometown, at the Tower Theater. Following that, the group will be recording an episode of Austin City Limits next month on April 6. Today’s news alludes to a new two-week string of dates booked for June, which will now include many towns The War on Drugs did not manage to travel to for promotion of Lost In The Dream and things will conclude with a consecutive duo of performances at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.. Given the gentlemen have only recently returned after finishing their extensive tour of the U.K., this decision to lock in more concerts seems to show there is little sign of either The War on Drugs, or their fans, letting up on a shared enthusiasm for showing up and rocking hard.
