In celebration of her European tour now in progress, Eleanor Friedberger premiered her new video for “When I Knew” from Personal Record at NME. Also, new US tour dates are below — both headlining and opening for Colin Meloy.
Directed by Ryan Junell, the “When I Knew” video includes shots of Eleanor doing laundry, dancing outside, and playing in the sprinkler all with trippy video elements.
Personal Record is Eleanor at her finest. Written with musician and novelist Wesley Stace, the album is an incredible collection of love songs. While Personal Record is – as the title suggests – a very personal record, Eleanor explains that the album is also “inclusive, written for an intimate setting with direct communication in mind: singer, acoustic guitar, audience.” According to Pitchfork, “…very few [songwriters in indie rock] are writing with half the precision, wit, and cool poise that Friedberger displays here.
